Coptotermes
Coptotermes is one of the most damaging termite speicies found in Singapore, causing more damage than any other in their genus family. They are subterranean termites which nest in tree stumps and crowns of growing trees, below sandy soils or under surface of gravel/cray soil. Their castes comprises of the Queen, King, Soldier, Worker and reproductive Alates.
Schedorhinotermes
The second most commonly found termites in Singapore are known as the Schedorhinotermes. They are shy termites which may nest in tree stumps, root crowns, under timber buried in the ground, under houses, patios and fire places. Schedorhinotermes termites should not be disturbed as much as possible as they permanently shy away from an area after they are disturbed.
